Home again, home again

This week we had two birthdays in the family, Brian and my Grandma! Although they are quite a few years a part it's always fun to celebrate the day you were brought to this Earth yelling and screaming turning pink and learning to breathe, agh how hard life was!??!

We celebrated with turkey BLT's, although I did get Brian a bacon and cheddar popcorn mix, "This says it will make you live until 100." He laughed and said It says it right here! We got to listen to some pop music while jamming out, talking, and eating. We then gave Patsy, (Aubrey and Marcus's purple-grey van) for a spin around the block. We fit all the kids and adults in there while we skidded out. Okay not exactly, but it is a pretty smooth ride. We Face Timed Chris and talked to him about his crazy work schedule this week, poor guy, he is working so hard! Can't wait to be with him on Thursday. Ellie and Sydney and I practiced our back bends, cartwheels, and hand stands. So much fun to be with the Smith's and family!

Grandma's birthday on the other hand, was not quite as loud. We went to the Thanksgiving point cafe where it was quiet and we could all hear each cough that went off in the room. We enjoyed salads, wheat bread, and had some good girl talk. Grandma and I related that we see, feel, and hear things. I told them the story of how I went to the temple by myself for the first time in Omaha. I started to cry as I remembered the experience.

I had so many questions going on in my head...Why are we in Omaha, is going to school for nursing right for me, will I be able to fit in meet friends? What am I doing in Omaha for a year! I had so many uncertainties and as most of you probably remembered I cried when I found out I was moving to Omaha. I really didn't even know where Omaha was on the map to be honest. So as I went to the temple with these things in mind being able to meditate there and sit in quiet, feeling the spirit, I had one of the most spiritual experiences I have ever had.

I thought a good place to start was with my scriptures. I opened them up and skimmed it for a couple of seconds until I landed on D&C 6. It says,  " A great and marvelous work is about to come forth unto the  children of men. 2- Behold I am God; give heed unto my word, which is quick and powerful, sharper than a two edged sword, to the dividing asunder of both joints and marrow; therefore give heed unto my words. 3- Behold the field is white already to harvest; therefore whoso desireth to reap, let him thrust in his sickle with his might, and reap while the day lasts, that he may treasure up for his soul everlasting salvation in the kingdom of God. 4- Yea whosoever will thrust in his sickle and reap, the same is called of God. 5- Therefore, if you will ask of me you shall receive; if you will knock it shall be opened unto you. 6- Now, as you have asked behold, I say unto you, keep my commandments, and seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion."

Now, after reading this I still wasn't convinced. What was I thinking everything was right there in those 6 passages! I think my Heavenly Father knows me all too well. I skipped to the next chapters in D&C and started reading. It was the same exact scripture I had read minuets ago.  Docterine and Covenants Chapter 11 says, "1- A great and marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men. 2- Behold I am God; give heed to my word, which is quick and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword, to the dividing asunder of both joints and marrow; therefore give heed unto my word. 3- Behold the field is white already to harvest; therefore, whoso desireth to reap let him thrust in his sickle with his might, and reap while the day lasts, that he may treasure up for his soul everlasting salvation in the kingdom of God. 4- Yea, whosoever will thrust in his sickle and reap, the same is called of God. 5- Therefore, if you will ask of me you shall receive, if you will knock it shall be opened unto you. 6- Now, as you have asked, behold I say unto you, keep my commandments, and seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion. 7- Seek not for riches but for wisdom; and behold, the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto you, and then shall you be made rich. Behold, he that hath eternal life is rich. 8- Verily, verily, I say unto you, even as you desire of me so it shall be done unto you; and, if you desire, you shall be the means of doing much good in this generation."

When I read these scriptures I thought okay. I know what I need to be doing. Missionary work. I felt spirits around me this day while in the temple. I saw a woman, a woman with a bonnet, a blouse, and a long skirt to her ankles in the temple. A sweet feeling almost like a whisper came to me and said to the extent- You are comforted, we endure hard things to make us stronger. This woman was a pioneer. She had struggled but had kept the commandments and made it to Winter Quarters. There is a Mormon Cemetery of the pioneers outside the Winter Quarters temple. I know that she was one of the pioneers to come and challenge her testimony. I know that for me, being in Omaha has challenged my testimony, but has made it 10X stronger. I know that I will have the opportunity to do temple work and to teach the word of God to others. I know why I am here!

Now, after sharing this story my grandma says that she sees things too. I don't think everyone sees things but I do believe everyone can feel things that are not of this world-per se. It almost feels surreal to be able to feel these sweet spirits but I know they are angels sent so help. Loved visiting with family this week, thanks for reading my blog and spiritual message!

Chemistry...

Ding Dong the Witch is Dead! The month of chemistry is OVER! And Christopher is all too much excited. Other than that it was just me, Aleks, and Vika the science and math lab TA ( aka the brilliant russian), and my personal tutor Chris, who would take the time he got to relax from work to help me. After calling Chris in tears after my final...I failed I failed I know I failed, I'll have to retake the class! (The accelerated chemistry class was only 5 weeks, it is supposed to be a semester class.) I was basically doing triple the normal school work. I finally got up the guts and looked at my grade. I pulled off a B on the test? I woke up Chris from sleeping, I passed I passed I might even get an A! Hearing his annoyed but happy voice, "Good job...!"

Tanner got a kitten. He is the cutest thing ever. Tanner wanted to name him Nico but we call him Ollie (Oliver) and vetoed it. I keep joking with Chris he may get a little visitor when I come home...;).

I look forward to the free coupons they give out at Jazz on the Green. We always pretend to spin the wheel and say oh look we get free cold stone! Chris and I went to Jazz on the Green and ate our strawberry cheese cake and sweet cream ice cream while listening to some jazz..."Say Jazz" Their from Utah? No Jazz on the Green...

After my final I had to get away. Chris was working all night so I decided to bring flowers to our friends who just had a baby. She is the Young Women's President and just called me to be her first counselor! I am so excited I told Chris I wanted to be in Young Women's so bad! After, Justine and I played some tennis and had some creepers watch us. Wanna buy a pinecone...? Uh no thanks...

Good to be in Utah, love visiting family!
