Getting ready for Halloween!

The month Chris and I first started dating has arrived. We normally make a haunted gingerbread house as one of our favorite halloween traditions. I usually buy the gingerbread house at Target, but Chris was insistent on making his own gingerbread recipe. I thought, Ya right is he going to have time to make gingerbread! That did it…I'm going to make it and show you! So he got the recipe and went to work. He even cut out his own templates. Pretty impressive!

We had friends over to carve pumpkins and ate some homemade ice-cream and Krispy Kreme doughnuts! Chris and I settled on a classic Jack-O-Lantern. Justin and Aubrey went with Mike Wasowski from Monsters Inc. and Brooke and Rhys made a butt with hands (that's for brooke;) and a ghoul/scream guy. We got started with Youtube videos and pretty soon watching tsunami videos. It was a long night.

Chris and I also went to Valla's this October. It is a popular thing to go to in the midwest. People drive from all over to go to this Halloween Amusement Center. They have pumpkin patches, pig races, shooting apples, glow in the dark golf, corn maizes, rides, seriously you name it! We got some gourds as I was told they are NOT pumpkins!

Chris also surprised me this month with tickets to The Book of Mormon on Broadway. I think he was the one who was perpetuated to go ;) The creators of South Park made this broadway so you already know it's going to be offensive. But, I have to say it was pretty funny..in the beginning…then it just got crude like all south park shows and turned south. Chris and I at the end kept saying, I want to meet a real mormon! We passed a group who had also just seen the play and overheard them, "THAT WAS THE FUNNIEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN!" uhhh….not really. But maybe because it hits home;).

My mom came to visit this month too
 Chris, talking to his mom:
Chris: "Jodi came to visit this week,"
Karen: "Oh fun, what did you guys do?"
Chris: "Well, she specifically said NOT to go to the zoo."
Karen: "Oh that's too bad, that was fun. What did you guys do?"
Chris: "Cameryn and Jodi shopped ALL day!"

That's why we don't take you Chris;) My mom and I got to have some mother daughter bonding time. We ran across pedestrian bridge over to Iowa and ran all the way to the indian reservation with all the Casinos. On the way back we stopped at the Lewis and Clark Exhibit and saw something that almost look to familiar. As we peered through the glass with all these anomalies we saw a beaver. It was a stuffed beaver, but my dad does this thing….since I was young he would try and make us laugh but after the 20 time it gets a little old. He would turn away from us kids, dry his lips and upper jaw, tuck his top lip under, and then look at us and say, "I got bit by a beaver!" Funny to you too?? We stopped by the farmers market on the way home and got some goodies. It was a cold day in Nebraska so we quickly warmed up with some chai and kettle corn indoors. We also went to movies, Winter Quarters, the Winter Quarters temple, and visited Chris at the hospital! It was a great weekend :)

Be normal! As my mom would like to say to us.
