Twin Cities

Chris and I decided to take a random 24 hour trip to Twin Cities! Minneapolis is beautiful…there are so many biking & running trails we kept saying "Look over there and look at that lake." Known for their famous 10,000 lakes slogan Chris said, "I would definitely get a boat if I lived here." Hm, maybe I can hold him to that…

We started the weekend by going to a Rodeo with our friend Justine. They sure do like their rodeos here. Everyone had their cowboy boots and big ol' beers in hand. Chris and I stayed sober while we found amusement of the kids riding the sheep. So cute.

We set off 6 in the morning to Minneapolis. Both exhausted but needing to get out of Omaha we ventured through Iowa. We got stuck in a rain storm and retreated to a gas station. It was more of a lodge than a gas station but it felt like I was cozy at home. The fire was going and two chickens were roasting on a skillet. The whole place smelt like BBQ. Chris and I were cold and wet when we finally walked in, and we didn't want to leave.

Mall of America, that says it all. 5,000 + stores leaves you a little overwhelmed. They had Nickelodeon Studios in the middle of it all, with roller coasters and rides for kids. Chris and I went on the Spongebob  roller coaster and teenage mutant ninja turtles soaring. Spongebob hurt my neck but ninja turtles especially for a kids ride was pretty cool…you got to control your flight and spin around as you soared up in the air with a group of people. Next, we went to the American Girl Doll exhibit. I loved american girl dolls when I was little. I had Kit, Samantha, and a look a like "me" doll. They have everything for those dolls! Even a parlor where you can take your doll in and get their hair brushed for only $15… that's a bargain?

We ended the night by going to Cirque de Soleil the Analuna version. It felt like I was in Avatar. The cricket sounds and liming blue lights shining. I can't believe they set up all the equipment, stairs, benches etc. for that place in about a day. I also can't believe they were charging $6 for water… I go up to the counter and ask if I can have some tap water. The lady tells me I can purchase a canister for $6 for tap water. I was like uh… ya right! So I went to the bar to see if they would let me have some water. Bartender says, "We're not allowed to give out cups." So to my imagination I take one of those ketchup cups and fill it with tap water and drink it in front of them. That shows my $6 for water!

The show was amazing, acrobats and flying trapeze. Those japanese woman are sure flexible! They all did flips on the person they were sitting on and landed on their feat! All of them are like gods with their bodies and athletic ability. I am with the girl who sat next to me who said, "I feel worthless…"

We went to an amazing brunch the next day and went to Minihaha's falls. Such a pretty place, wouldn't mind going back to Minnesota.

That's too bomb...

"That's too bomb." This is the phrase that my Young Woman said when talking to her about making milkshakes for next mutual. I had to ask her, "What?" She said it again, then clarified when she saw my face, cool. Oh....bomb=cool. I'm getting old...

Adversity... That was the subject that was taught this sunday in sacrament. The girl who spoke is new to the ward and just moved here with her four kids. She is 24 and her husband just decided to quit his old business job and start medical school. Adversity... she talked about how late he works but how it has made their relationship closer because they appreciate the time they have much more together, and that he will become successful in his job later on. Dang, slap in the face for me. I thought it was hard moving to three different places in less than a year. But to have to START medical school with four kids... and have another 8 years plus a fellowship. She said, "Well at least medical school isn't forever, I have to look at it that way." Oh poor poor girl, she has no idea...

This week I went to my married to medicine girl dinner. I didn't get the memo that it was exclusively for the women. It was a progressive dinner meaning we have dinner at one house then move to the next house for dinner and the next for dessert. I met Chris and we went to the appetizer house. Scanning the room, there are no husbands...well Chris got his fix of estrogen! The last house we went to dessert made tiramisu. It was good, a little too good. As I grabbed a plate and about to take a bite, a girl leans over to me knowing that I am mormon. That has uncooked alcohol in it. Uh oh... I see Chris in the other room about to dig in. I look at him and shake my head at him thinking he can read my mind..."CHRIS NOOO!!!" he then looks at me and yells What!??? And as I'm shaking my head the girl who made it looks at me...uh awkward. That's not what I meant! We need to work on our internal communication...

I just love love love love love my human anatomy class. I honestly can not get enough of it. I just want to study it all day. Seriously it almost gives me a high...is that weird? My first test is this week ah! And my application is for sure in to SLU! Can't wait to hear...crossing my fingers.
I had two job interviews this week. One at a dermatology office, where a women was offering to train me as a Medical Assistant that is usually a 9 month- 2 year program where it costs $9,000- $45,000 depending on school and credentials. Hmmm....well we will see! The office is a little far and it requires a lot of work but it would be great practice. I also interviewed at the lab one of the professors I met who teaches immunology and Macrobiology. He got me super interested in looking at parasites and he is a BYU alumni. After a group interview of 10 people and some uber nerd who dressed up in suits I still think he likes me the best.... haha. I have a nerdy crush on him, and Chris knows it.

Well, that is mostly the scoop for this week! We are planning a fun getaway for the weekend to maybe Adamondioman or Minneapolis. I love my husband so much. I have to say, he is so amazing. I know everyone rolls their eyes when they see this on a Facebook status. But this is not a Facebook status so I can say whatever I want :). He is such a hard worker, and he will be an amazing doctor. He seriously can balance his life so well. He amazes me, and truly makes me a better person. There, I'm done you can stop rolling your eyes ;).

Love you all make this a happy week!

Family in Omaha

Busy Busy week! Between trying to study for microbiology and hanging with the kids (Karen, Brian, and Chris) it was an adventure. We went to one of our favorite mexican restaurants Cantina Loredo and enjoyed mahi mahi tacos and some high pitched opera. We are living the culture life in Omaha Nebraska.
Friday we took some time and went to one of the best zoo's in the nation! The apes weren't running into the glass this time, but the cute orangutans were my favorite. The baby and the mom wrestling with a blanket. We love our Costco time with Brian and Karen. We ate pulled chicken on ciabatta roles and a big watermelon. Mmmm does that make us happy :)
Saturday we woke up bright and early to the Cornhusker game 6:30 am for football...Chris had to pull me out of bed. We had a great time at the game although we lost to UCLA :( The best part was me study for micro and the hotdog shooter man who shot the hotdog up in the air. It hit me right in the back! I guess that's what I get for not paying attention...

We love family! Keep them coming!

Back to school!

Class Schedule includes microbiology, and lab, and human anatomy and lab. Not crazy about microbiology but human anatomy I LOVE! We have a new lab that has flat screen TV's on all the tables, microphones hanging from the ceiling, a small video camera in the back of the class that films our lectures and puts it on our class webpage. We have so much equipment! It makes me excited for nursing. "So it will be $80 for the cat." My teacher announces. I started smiling thinking is he for real? Then he goes on, "You can buy them at the bookstore." "Be sure to lift it and jiggle it to make sure there is something in there." the TA adds, "Make sure you get a light one, the big cats take forever to peel the fat off." then my teacher says, "And it's greasy!" This will be interesting...

First day at mutual in young women's, so far it is fun! There's only a few girls which is interesting compared to Austin and Utah.We looked at pictures of Kristy's cute baby and ate a congratulations cake. We are planning activities for the rest of the year so if you have any fun recommendations I would love to hear them!

I have been asked to teach the scouts for their communications badge. I informed Brother Watts I am going back to school not for communications but for nursing. But it sounds like they are in desperate need to get some teachers for the three long hours of teaching this next weekend.

Chris and I are now on an indoor soccer team! I went Thursday night to check it out, and our team is so good! I have missed soccer so much, but there was definitely no air conditioning in the humid facility and I showed Chris my shirt after, and it definitely looked like I just went swimming.

Since this week at UNO was the beginning of school there were a bunch of free events and free food! I got free lunch: Jimmy Johns, pizza, BBQ, taco salads. Friday night was the finale and I took Chris to the HYPER building where there was seriously so many freshman... I felt so old! We went rock climbing, and observed the one woman giving massages to a line of about 20. Seriously, worst job ever...

Miss you all!
